A breathable membrane, or breather membrane, is a thin, flexible building material used in walls and roofs that blocks liquid water (like rain) but allows water vapor (moisture) to escape, preventing condensation, mold, and rot while keeping structures dry, airtight, and improving energy efficiency. It works by having microscopic pores that are too small for water droplets but large enough for vapor molecules, protecting timber and insulation.
